2012 Toyota FT 86

This is the production version of the Toyota FT 86, called the GT 86 in Europe and only 86 in Japan The model will be the main attraction of the Japanese brand Tokyo Motor Show, which begins next 30 days. As you know, the sport is the result of a joint effort between Toyota and Subaru.

Two other models will come out of this partnership, the BRZ and also the Subaru Scion FR-S. All three share the same platform and the same mechanical assembly, including the four-cylinder engine from Subaru. The measures are 4.24 meters long, 1.28 high, 1.77 wide and 2.57 wheelbases.

Toyota GT 86 – which will be called in Japan only 86 – has a boxer engine with four cylinders opposed, front. With 2 liters of cubic capacity, the engine is capable of generating 200 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 20.4 lb.-ft. of torque at 6000 rpm.

Coupled with a six-speed manual transmission (six-speed automatic with sequential controls on the steering wheel is optional), this engine is capable of carrying the GT 86 to 100 km / h in 7 seconds and a top speed of 240 km / h.
