At the next Detroit Motor Show (January 2012) will be displayed for the Smart For us, a pick-up version of the smart with electric drive, capable of carrying two people and two electrically helped bicycles, which will be launched next year by smart (and can also be seen at the Bologna Motor Show).
As known, the Smart For us basic mechanics will be shared with Renault, which will draw the new Twingo, Smart sharing with a novelty in this segment of the motor in the rear, a configuration that will open the car as standard as the way of traditional propulsion than electricity. Not surprisingly, the Smart For us is powered by a 55 kW electric motor that can reach 120 km / h top speed.
The Smart For us designs were advanced in style, the car, 3,547 mm long, 1,506 mm wide and 1,701 mm high, proposes elements already seen in the recent concept that expects the next generation of smart, with the look of a pickup “urban” rather catchy. Note how the cell tridion has been reinterpreted here to draw the roll-bar and the rear cargo area, spacious and easily accessible. Inside, instrumentation is proposed which includes the connection to your smartphone with a camera to simplify parking maneuvers. The concept uses the same engine the smart ED, with a power of 75 hp; series production will take place over two years.
