Toyota FCV-R Concept - For Toyota, hydrogen is the most promising source of energy of the moment: it is emission-free, can be derived from several sources and is easy to store and transport. And for wanting to be the first to market by 2015 with the fuel-powered vehicles, Toyota will show in the Tokyo Motor Show (30/11 to 11/12) Toyota FCV-R.
Considered as one of the greenest ways of propulsion, fuel cells convert hydrogen molecules into electricity and, instead, to emit pollutants, the resulting material has the water. It is an expensive technology and is under study for many years without any model currently in production.
But Toyota wants to break this taboo by introducing the R-FCV in 2015 in its version of the series. The model is a kind of futuristic Corolla, with dimensions similar to those of best-selling midsize sedan. According to Toyota, the hydrogen tank of high pressure FCV-R is able to provide a range of 700 km. The price of the model, however, should be almost prohibitive in time.
